The Picasso and Cubism Exhibition, where you can see cubist paintings, the greatest revolution in Western art history, will be held at the Hangaram Art Museum until March 31. This exhibition is the first to introduce to Korea 90 masterpieces displayed at the City of Paris Museum of Modern Art, a repository of 20th century art.

The Picasso and Cubism Exhibition is comprised of 90 masterpieces by 20 artists who pioneered the birth and development of cubist art. The exhibition displays sophisticated pieces by Picasso and Braque, the pioneers of the cubist movement, including Head of a Man by Picasso and Head of a Woman by Braque, as well as a collection of works by various artists whose artworks focus on space partitions and color composition.

You can also see works by Robert Delaunay, Sonia Delaunay, and Fernand Léger, who added color to cubism, from achromatic to chromatic and from form-centric to color-centric. The work by Robert and Sonia Delaunay, standing over 5 meters tall and exhibited in the Paris International Exposition in 1938, will be transported outside of France for the first time in 80 years, to be exhibited in Korea. The overwhelming size, color, and rhythm of the composition, that are hard to be seen in contemporary paintings, defines the glory days of the cubist period.

This exhibition, which shows everything about cubism, is divided into five chronological sections ranging from the birth to the end of cubism. The exhibition chronologically introduces cubism from its origin with Paul Cezanne, the father of modern painting, to the development of cubism by Picasso and Braque, and to cubism between World War I and II.
