Description of the Work
Artist Park Jong-ha has been developing the lifelong theme of genesis, imbuing the canvas with great vitality through clear and full strokes of the brush. His work GEN, as in “genesis” in reference to the beginning and origin of the cosmos, radiates beauty with a brilliant feast of colors as if to welcome guests to the 2nd floor lobby of LOTTE HOTEL WORLD, where it is exhibited on the left-hand wall of the wedding lounge showcasing beautiful wedding outfits of the bride and groom. A major source of artistic inspiration for the creator, the GEN series goes beyond concrete forms and pursues the truth of complex beauty in order to illustrate the ever-present natural order and vitality around us that is “qi”, through quick downward brush strokes. The artist’s breathing and movement change with each stroke as the clash and harmony of universal phenomena occur simultaneously. He simultaneously embraces likeness and difference on the canvas according to the physical uniformity of brush strokes with slightly different colors, depth and thickness.

About the Artist
Artist Park Jong-ha has developed the theme of genesis since 1990. His body of work focuses on Eastern philosophy, especially the ideas of qi (氣) and tao (道), expressed through colorful strokes of his brush.
