    Through his paintings of flowers and nature, Ahn expresses his appreciation for nature and his view of the world. His paintings don't just reproduce the appearance of nature and beautiful flowers, but they also implicitly express the vitality and metaphors of life and death.

  • About the Artist

    Born in 1953 in Milyang, Gyeongnam, Ahn Chang Hong has followed his own path as a painter. Beginning with the series Dangerous Play in the mid-1970s, he has delivered socially critical messages through his works Family Photo, Spring Day, Cyborg, and Bed Couch. Since his solo exhibition at the Young Artists' Center and Space Gallery in 1981, he has held more than 40 solo exhibitions at Kumho Museum of Art, Sabina Museum of Art, Busan Museum of Art, Chosun Ilbo Museum of Art, and participated in numerous group exhibitions at the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Gwangju Museum of Art, Busan Museum of Art, Gyeongnam Museum of Art, Seoul Museum of Art, Samsung Museum of Art, and Rium. He was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Cagnes International Painting Festival in 1989, the Inseong Lee Art Prize in 2009, and the Doublesup Art Prize in 2013. His works are currently in the collections of major museums such as the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul Museum of Art, and Busan Museum of Art.
